INTRODUCTION
The Rotary Vacuum filter are used whenever it is necessary to obtain very limpid filtrates, especially starting from very diluted slurries. The filtering element consists of rotary drum, the vacuum is applied to the surface of the drum, a precoat cake 6-8 cm. These are batch filters as the filter aid precoat is gradually removed by a scraper blade with micrometry advancement. The slurry is then replaced by the turbid liquid as the turbidities accumulate over the surface of the precoat. A knife blade continuously shaves off these turbidities and advances automatically towards the inner part of the precoat, at a rate of 0,1 to 0,25 mm. per revolution.
